STEP 1: SCHEDULING YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION
What is your session fee for families, couples, and seniors?
Portrait Sessions start at $700. Contact us for an exact quote on your project.
How do I schedule our session date?
Fill out the contact form and include a few dates that work for your family - or you can schedule a call for us to compare calendars.
I always try to be as flexible as possible, and once we find a date, booking is 100% online and takes just a few minutes.
How soon will I receive my images after the session?
2-3 weeks is the average turnaround time for gallery delivery for most portrait sessions, and 6 weeks for weddings. Slower seasons, such as winter, have a shorter turnaround time, busy seasons like autumn have a longer turnaround time. If you have a particular date or holiday by which you need prints or gifts (Mother's Day, Father's Day, Hanukkah, Christmas, etc.), be sure to book a date at least one month in advance of that date to ensure sufficient processing and printing time.
What time of day should I book?
The first hour after sunrise, and the last hour before sunset, are the best two hours of the day for outdoor portraits; it gives us “golden hour light”. The most unflattering/challenging time of day to shoot is mid-day, around noon.
If we are shooting in one of the Hocking Hills State Parks, we will want to be DONE SHOOTING by 10:00 am.
The parks are too crowded with tourists after 10:00 am.
If babies or young children are in your group, select a time a day that works well with napping and feeding schedules. Typically, this age does best first thing in the morning.
What is your weather policy?
I can and do reschedule sessions for inclement weather.
STEP 2: THE SESSION ITSELF
Once we've decided on a time and date and officially put your session on the books, I'll send you a guide to getting ready that will walk you through everything from choosing outfits to, to hair and makeup, to strategies for getting kids to cooperate. That guide has been created and refined over years of experience, so it typically answers 90% of the questions that come up, but I'm always happy to set up a time to chat if you want additional help.
A few days before our session is scheduled, I'll reach out to confirm our time and location... at that point, if the forecast is questionable or someone seems to be coming down with the flu, we can talk about our rescheduling options. Otherwise, that's the perfect time to ask any last-minute questions or let me know if you've come up with a fun idea we haven't discussed.
The day of the session, please block off 2-2.5 hours. Typically, we're done within 60-90 minutes or so, but I don't charge by the hour, so if there's some kind of wardrobe malfunction or meltdown, I like to stay flexible. Finally, take a breath and relax... I promise to give breaks throughout the session as needed, and to make it as painless as possible for everyone involved.
STEP 3: Beautiful Portraits You are Proud to Display
Within just a couple of weeks of your session, you'll receive an email from me letting you know that your photos are ready. Click the link in the email to view your gallery and access your photos for viewing, downloading, sharing, and ordering printed products from the gallery store.
STEP 4: Printing What Matters to You
What you are going to do with your images is perhaps the most important aspect to consider when you are planning for a photo session, but it is all too often the aspect that is overlooked... all that time and money invested deserve a better return than photos gathering dust on a hard drive somewhere. You will never get the same feeling looking at your photos on a screen as you will seeing them on your wall or flipping through the pages of an album, so I include a gallery store with every session so you can easily order prints, cards, albums, metal, canvas, and more! All items are printed from our network of professional print labs that are calibrated to our equipment to ensure accuracy in color and clarity. Not to mention the archival heirloom-quality of professional printing over discount consumer printing.
